NORTH MANCHESTER – Emogene H. “Jean” Leasure, 95, North Manchester, died at 2:20 a.m. Oct. 27, 2014, at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester. She was born June 1, 1919, in Kosciusko County, to Emory and Mary Warner Hossler. On May 7, 1943, she married Fred G. Leasure, who died Oct. 17, 2001. She was a retired high school teacher and counselor. She was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake. She graduated from Pierceton High School in 1937 and from Manchester College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. She received her master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Purdue University in 1964. She was a high school teacher for 29 years, teaching business and girls physical education. She spent the last 14 years in guidance at South Whitley and Columbia City. She received recognition as an outstanding teacher. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states, New Zealand, Australia and took several trips to Europe. They had also attended 16 elderhostels. She was a very active member of the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed reading, playing games flower gardening, and keeping up with her children and their families. Surviving are two sons, Max J. (and spouse Cindy) Leasure, Kernersville, N.C., and Kim L. (and spouse Jane) Leasure, Warsaw; a daughter, Jacalyn Kay (and spouse William) Bucher, North Manchester; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rosie Hossler, Fort Wayne. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hossler, and a sister, Maxine Hossler. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, 2507 E. Ind. 14, Silver Lake, with the Rev. Ron Finney officiating. Burial is in Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake.
