Emma Ruth Berkey, 94, of 3890 N. CR 300W, Warsaw, died at 5:30 a.m. Jan. 19, 2009, in Courtyard Health Care, Goshen.
She was born July 26, 1914, in Kosciusko County, to Milo and Anna Whetstone Howard. On Jan. 31, 1942, in Burket, she married Wilber E. Berkey, who died in 1988.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was 1932 Burket High School graduate, a homemaker and attended Clunette United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, sewing, embroidery and playing the piano.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne (and spouse Carol) Berkey, Claypool, and Earl Berkey, Warsaw; a daughter, Anna (and spouse Dean) Kronk, Wakarusa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, two brothers, two nieces and a nephew.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
