Emma Reffitt of Warsaw passed away at 7:23 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw at the age of 94.
She was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Risner, Ky., to James Maynard Hale and Mary Marsillett Hale. On May 9, 1941, she was married to Amos Reffitt. They shared 64 years of marriage together before he passed away on Aug. 10, 2005.
Emma lived in Kosciusko County for the past 65 years; she moved to Claypool in 1953.
For many years she worked at Blue Bell in Warsaw as a seamstress. In 1981 she started working at Zimmer Inc. in Warsaw as a seamstress, and later with the building and grounds department, retiring in 1989.
She loved to sew, crochet, quilt and garden, and she enjoyed cooking.
Emma especially loved her family as well as her two little dogs, Maggie and Benson. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, where she simply enjoyed attending church and all of the singing specials with her late husband.
Emma will be forever loved and dearly missed by her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Christine (Bob) Evans, Warsaw; and three grandchildren: Michael (Annie) Haywood, Warsaw; Bill Haywood, Roann; and Ami (David) Pitt, Warsaw. She leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren: April, Caleb, Meghan, Christiann, Emma, Skye, Canaan, Kyle, Sarah, Rissa and Carolyn; 11 great-great-grandchildren: Bhrett, Brady, Pyper, Lyrick, Gavin, Owen, Isaac, Renley, Adam and two on the way; and her sister-in-law, Josephine Yates, Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos; son-in-law, Bob Haywood; two sisters; five brothers; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Terry Bradford. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
