NORTH MANCHESTER – Ella Marie Hale Shepherd, 83, of North Manchester, died at 12:20 p.m. July 26, 2012, in her residence. She was born June 6, 1929, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Ben and Martha Hale. On June 25, 1949, she married Walter Shepherd, who died Oct. 17, 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She volunteered at the Thrift Shop, North Manchester. Surviving are two sons, Walt Jr. (and spouse Sharon) Shepherd, Columbia City, and Jeffrey Shepherd, North Manchester; Carol Shepherd, Mary (and spouse Jim) Bucher and Bonnie (and spouse Mitchell) Shenefield, all of North Manchester; Pamela (and spouse Dennis) Helmer, Rexford, Mont.; Barbara Honeycutt, Silver Lake; and Haley (and spouse Doug) Sims, Westfield; two brothers, Henry (and spouse Rachel) Nelson, Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Charlie (and spouse Ruth) Nelson, David, Ky.; four sisters: Rosa Shepherd, Warsaw; Judy (and spouse Randall) Calhoun, Georgetown, Ky.; Nancy (and spouse Doris Ray) Delong, Belleville, Mich.; and Christine (and spouse Sherman) Goble, Prestonsburg; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister, a grandson and a son-in-law. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God, Silver Lake, with Pastor Frank Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Swank Cemetery, North Manchester.
