The Warsaw Lodge of Elks 802’s annual community Thanksgiving dinner will be held a little differently this year.
Usually, the Lodge holds a sit-down dinner at their Lodge, 310 E. Center St., Warsaw, on Thanksgiving. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 40th Annual Elks Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be carry-out only, according to Roger Hughes, head trustee for the lodge.
People will be able to pick up meals at American Legion Post #49, 301 N. Buffalo St., Warsaw, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Deliveries will begin at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
Each meal ordered feeds one person. Generally, the event feeds between 600 and 750 people each year, and the deliveries feed between 200 and 250 people.
The dinner is held each year to fulfill a need for the elderly and for community service, Hughes said. “It’s a way for people by themselves to be with other people and enjoy and the holiday.”
Hughes said the Elks Lodge will start taking orders Nov. 2 between 3 and 7 p.m. People can order by calling 574-267-7802.
If someone would like to donate to the Elks Lodge, donations will be accepted at 310 E. Center St., Warsaw, Hughes said.
