Emergency personnel responded to a hit-and-run collision at 3:55 p.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 30W and CR 800W, west of Atwood. Kevin M. Zawadski, 37, Elkhart, was arrested and preliminarily charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Zawadski is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on $300 bond. Witnesses told deputies that a grey Chevy Lumina fled the scene with severe damage to the car after striking two vehicles. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Shane Bucher and an Indiana State Trooper located the vehicle and suspect in a ditch near Mt. Tabor Church at CR 800N. Investigating officers determined that Zawadski had been northbound on CR 800W and failed to yield to traffic on U.S. 30. He struck two vehicles then fled the scene. One female was injured in one of the vehicles, but refused treatment at the scene. Names of the other drivers involved at the crash were not available at press time.
