Elizabeth Lou Orr, 88, passed away June 7, 2010, in Ventura, Calif., with her daughter, Mary Adrianne Krause, at her bedside.

She was born Aug. 15, 1921, in Leesburg, to Wallace and Mary Ruth Summy Goshorn. She married William F. Orr July 29, 1944, in Joplin, Mo., where Bill Orr was stationed during World War II, and just before he would be deployed to France. He died April 20, 2001.

She lived in California for three years, moving from Sierra Vista, Ariz.

She taught elementary and junior high during her teaching career. During that time, she taught in Columbia City; Redbank, N.J.; and in various locations on the San Francisco, Calif., Peninsula.

She was the valedictorian of the class of 1938 at Leesburg High School, and graduated from Manchester College with a bachelor's degree in 1942. She was active in teaching Sunday School in various Methodist churches, led Girl Scout troops, taught English as a second language and did library volunteer work in the numerous locations where she and Bill lived.

She was a creative homemaker who loved to entertain and had a wonderful ability to make every-day experiences fun.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Adrianne (and spouse Robert) Krause, Ventura, Calif., and Sara Carolyn (and spouse John) Orr-Blonigen, Eugene, Ore.; two grandchildren, William Charles Krause and Alexandra Krause; and two brothers, Charles E. and Hazel Goshorn, both of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and James Goshorn.

Services will be at a later date, and no calling is planned.

Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
