Elizabeth A. 'Liz' Furnivall

Posted
ROCHESTER – Elizabeth A. “Liz” Furnivall, 78, Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away Oct. 16, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Plymouth, to Fritz and Fannie Howard Klingerman. On March 24, 1951, in Rochester, she married her best friend and the love of her life, Dale H. Furnivall, who died Oct. 21, 1999.
Together they shared 48 loving years, and raised three children, Steve, Mike and Sue. Dale was perfect to her in every way until he traded their motorcycle to buy their first home, without her consent. They loved to travel – Hawaii and Alaska were their favorite destinations. As they went everywhere together, it was often said that they were joined at the hip. She and Dale loved to golf and watch Tiger Woods when he was playing. If he didn’t make the cut, it was not worth watching. The Colts were also a favorite until Peyton Manning left the team, and her loyalties went to the Broncos. Saturday afternoons were often spent cheering for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish football team.
Dale was always number one in Liz’s life, and she took care of him until he passed away. Elvis was  number two, but sometimes family and friends wondered after looking at the pictures and her shrine to him.
She enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching and mowing the lawn, but she often was tormented by the squirrels and moles in her yard. After many years of service, she retired from Hart Schaftner and Marx of Rochester. She was a member of the Rochester Elks and the Moose Family Center of Rochester.
She is lovingly survived by a daughter, Susan Furnivall; two sons, Steven (and spouse Ann) Furnivall, and Michael (and spouse Terri) Furnivall, all of Rochester; five grandchildren: Ashley (and spouse Marc) Cilfone, Craig and Corbin Furnivall, Jon Wootten and Julia Bradley; five great-grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Noah and Timothy Wootten and Siena Cilfone;  her little brother, James Klingerman, Plymouth; three brothers-in-law: Duane (and spouse Julia) Howard, Grants Pass, Ore.; David (and spouse Linda) Furnivall, Warsaw; and Delon (and spouse Terri) Furnivall, Tippecanoe; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Good Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Maurice Grindle officiating.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to the service Saturday, in the funeral home.
