Elinor "Joan" Dobbins, 84, of Warsaw, died at 11:30 a.m. March 5, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Warsaw, to Lloyd O. and Delta Dot Jefferies Yates.
She was a Leesburg High School graduate. Her first job was working for the Winona Lake Railroad, and later at the county clerk's office. Over her lifetime she was a Red Cross Gray Lady and she sang in the County Women's Chorus. She was a member of Warsaw First Brethren Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, in charge of the church nursery, a member of the WMS and sang in the choir.
Surviving are a son, Mike Dobbins (and life partner Daryl Keith). She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ellen Schaulis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Bill Shipman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
