In what has become a Republican tradition, Kosciusko County's newest elected officials were sworn into office Monday.
With nearly 150 people watching in the old courtroom, Circuit Court Judge Rex Reed handled the duties of swearing in the new office holders.
Among those were two new judges, Joe Sutton and Duane Huffer.
Sutton will serve as the first judge of the newly created Superior Court III.
Huffer will replace Robert Burner who served on the bench of Superior Court, which will now be known as Superior I.
Also new to elected office are Larry Ladd, the assistant coronor. He replaces coronor John Sadler, who is prohibited by law from seeking a third term.
Stephanie Esenwein, a longtime deputy in the treasurer's office, was sworn in as the new treasurer. She takes over for Judy Burnau, who also reached her maximum two-term limit.
Marsha McSherry was sworn in for a second term as county clerk.
County council members Kathryn Teel and Tom Anglin were also sworn in Monday.
Despite many contested races by Democrats, Republicans swept the general election as they have for several elections.
Elected officials who missed Monday's ceremony included commissioner Brad Jackson and Superior Court II Judge James Jarrette. They will be sworn in at a later date.
