Elect Hayhurst

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Greetings, Kosciusko County! My name is Joshua Bartman. I'm here to rally our county for an idea we can all get behind. Electing someone of high moral character to congress, who is concerned with creating jobs, stimulating our economy and eliminating lobbyist control over what happens in our district.

As of now, on the right and left, we both can agree that our current representation does not reflect desires and needs of northeast Indiana. We need a representative in congress who represents us, not big business and not a party narrative. Northeast Hoosiers need someone who will actively engage new business growth, keep jobs in our state and our country by implementing fair trade, not free trade, and seeking new forms of renewable energy through creating more ethanol and biodiesel plants to help local farmers.

I believe that the person we can trust to do this and better our community is someone you already know, Dr. Tom Hayhurst of Fort Wayne. For those of you who don't know, Dr. Tom Hayhurst ran for Congress a few years ago. Dr. Hayhurst's common sense campaign came the closest we have ever seen to unseating our current representative and restoring real home town values to Indiana's Third Congressional District.

For over 30 years, Dr. Hayhurst has been serving our community in various ways; by co-founding the Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic's free pulmonary clinic, co-founding the Wolf Lake free health clinic in Noble County, working weekly at the Allen County Tuberculosis Clinic, serving honorably in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and working to improve VA benefits throughout the region.

Dr. Hayhurst has decided that this year we can again come together as Democrats, as Independents, as fed up Republicans, as Hoosiers, to send him to Washington and Mark Souder back to Grabil.

At the local level we are not seeing much of the change that the president has promised, this in some part is due to our local leaders being ineffective in allowing change in Washington and implementing change back home.

That's why we need someone like Dr. Hayhurst speaking for us, not the special interests, in the halls of congress.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful and committed citizens can change the world.
