SYRACUSE – Eleanor Mathews Stiffler Hillery, 93, of New Paris, went to her eternal heavenly home at 2:02 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, after a brief illness at Goshen Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1926, in New Paris, to Lloyd and Cecelia Arnold Mathews.
She graduated from New Paris High School and was a lifetime New Paris/Syracuse area resident. She retired from GTI in Leesburg after 30 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Stiffler, of New Paris; son, Robert “Bob” (Joy) Stiffler, of North Manchester; two grandchildren: Jamie (Gwenda) Stiffler, of Guam; and Jodi (Jason) Rhoades, of Pierceton; nine great-grandchildren: Alex and Jake Rhoades, Chase, Wyatt, Derek, Brady, Zoey, Emmett and Elijah Stiffler; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Mathews, of Elkhart; nephews: Dana (Susan) Mathews, Steve (Marilyn) Mathews, Bruce (Linda) Mathews and Howie (Tracy) Mathews; and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Howard Mathews.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw. Services will be held at a later date.
Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
