TIPTON – Eleanor J. Ley, 90, of Claypool, and formerly of Sharpsville and Tipton, died at 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake.
She was born on March 3, 1929, in Tipton County to Howard and Lula Smith Dewitt. On Aug. 30, 1968, she married Harold A. Ley, and he survives.
Eleanor was a nurse and had worked at Tipton County Memorial Hospital and the Tipton Clinic. She was also a homemaker for her family. Eleanor had attended Windfall Christian Church before moving north, where she attended Beaver Dam United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Sharpsville High School and received her nurse’s training in Kokomo. Eleanor liked to sew, quilt and bake, and she was a very good cook.
Survivors, besides her husband of 51 years, Harold, include one son, Michael K. Hamilton, Kokomo; two grandsons: Kyle Hamilton and wife Carrie; and Kevin Hamilton and wife Lindsay; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Hamilton; and one sister, Jean Grimme.
Funeral services for Eleanor will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Butch Troke presiding. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.
