Eldon B. Silveus, 86, of 13860 Elm Road, Bourbon, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Sept. 24, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born July 2, 1924, in Milford, to Amos and Mary Grace Banks Silveus Wallace. On June 25, 1947, he married Mary E. Clark, who survives.
He was a 1943 graduate of Bourbon High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a self-employed building contractor and owner of Silveus Construction, Bourbon. He was a lifetime area resident of Bourbon, and wintered in Florida for many years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Mary E. Silveus, Bourbon; three daughters: Pamela J. Silveus, New Paris; Vickie L. (and spouse George) Cook, Plymouth; and M. Michaeleen (and spouse Robert) Crow, Culver; two sons, Dr. Patrick C. (and spouse Jana) Silveus, Warsaw, and Robert J. (and spouse Jackie) Silveus, Plymouth; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Eldon Silveus, who died in 1971; two brothers, Jay and Hugh Silveus; and four sisters: Faye Shuta, Annabelle Bednarski, Mary Alice Long and Ramona Silveus.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon, officiated by Pastor Matt Elliott of Grace Baptist Church of Plymouth, and with military rites.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Redpath-Fruth funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
