Garrett Elder, a 13-year-old 8th-grader at Wawasee Middle School, won his age group in Sunday’s NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Prior to winning the state championship, Elder won local events in Syracuse and Mishawaka. Elder, representing the Indianapolis Colts, now has to wait and see if he finishes in the top four in his age group when all 32 NFL teams conclude their state competitions. If Elder does finish in the top four, he will advance to the national competition. Elder is the son of Mike and Vicki Elder. His cousin, Steven Elder, was a two-time Punt, Pass & Kick champion.
