NORTH MANCHESTER – Elaine Charlotte Frieden, 84, of North Manchester, died at 5:35 a.m. April 16, 2013, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Sept. 12, 1928, in North Manchester, to Cecil L. and Mae E. Christman Eiler.
She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Essex Wire, North Manchester, for 20 years. On Dec. 6, 1947, she married Keith D. Frieden, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. She was a lifelong resident of North Manchester and graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, in 1946. She was a member of Women of the Moose and a former member of Tri Kappa. She and her mother started the first firemen’s auxiliary for Chester Township Fire Dept.
Surviving are two sons, Gary S. (and spouse Theresa) Frieden, Greenfield, and William A. (and spouse Garnet) Frieden, North Manchester; a daughter, Julie (and spouse Delmer) Owens, Silver Lake; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
