Elaine C. Rhodes, 91, of 600 N. Colfax St., Warsaw, went home to be with her Lord at 8 p.m. Oct. 29, 2008, in her residence.
She was born Oct. 7, 1917, at Rice Lake, Wis., to Peder G. and Helga Nybak Orsund. On Nov. 21, 1934, she married Carroll G. Rhodes, who died July 31, 1982.
A resident of Kosciusko and Marshall counties since 1937, she was a homemaker and a member of Burket United Methodist Church, where she was involved with the Prayer & Share Group and the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Seward Home Economics Club in the Bourbon area.
She was the beloved mother of three sons, Roger G. (and spouse Shirley) Rhodes, Naples, Fla., and Donald R. Rhodes and Jim (and spouse Bonnie) Rhodes, all of Warsaw; four daughters: Shirley E. (and spouse Donald) Guske, Crown Point; Janet J. (and spouse Jim L.) White, Syracuse; and Carolyn J. (and spouse Donald) Rarick and Patricia A. Nichols, all of Warsaw; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry P. Orsund, Birchwood, Wis., and Carl P. Orsund, Nappanee. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys Stouder.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with the Rev. Gregory Crowder officiating. Burial will be in Etna Green Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
