NAPPANEE – Eileen L. Mishler, 88, of Nappanee, died at 9:04 p.m. Oct. 5, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor, after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Elkhart, to Wilbur and Ethel Martin Madlem. On Nov. 25, 1944, in Wakarusa, he married Gerald Mishler, who died Feb. 3, 1981.
She was a 1942 graduate of Nappanee High School and a lifetime resident of Nappanee. She was a homemaker and had also worked at Martin Hardware for 23 years. She was a member and deacon of Union Center Church of the Brethren, where she had also served as Sunday school director and teacher for many years. She was a member of Better Homes Club and the Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary. As a youth, she enjoyed being in 4-H.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra J. (and spouse Wayne) Scheumann, Nappanee, and Barbara (and spouse Steve) Quakenbush, Canon City, Colo; a son, John E. (and spouse Cathy) Mishler, Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma (and spouse Paul) Pletcher, Elkhart. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Center Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service at the church. ***** Memorials may be given to Union Center Church of the Brethren.
