Editor, Times-Union: I am writing this letter in regards to Michael Alspaugh.
I’m not sure what you are trying to say here, except you hold yourself in high regard. In your letter you wrote “I” 19 times. I plant trees, I do this or I do that. You never say we, as it should be. You seem to forget that your wife also does things around the house and I bet she helps you also.
As far as the lady across the street, what you seem to forget is she also pays high property taxes, since she lives in the same neighbor hood as you.
Well, as far as property taxes are concerned, it’s your fault that you pay such high taxes, you choose to buy that house in the first place. And just a side note, everyone pays property taxes whether buying or renting. The people renting, where do you think part of that rent goes to? The landlord also uses that to pay property taxes, so hence renters also pay them, and deserve just as much police, fire and street services as you do.
But I am still not sure why you think the mayor, or the street department manager, should have to listen to you. Be nice if you would explain to all of us why that is.
And as far as rodents, squirrels abound in Warsaw, and are fun to watch. We have a half acre of land, with 20 oak, two elm, and one walnut tree. Yes, it is a pain to keep up with fallen branches all the time. But we work together to try to keep them picked up. We cut the grass, pick up limbs and just try to keep it clean, a never-ending battle. But we work to do it not just I, for without her help, I wouldn’t be able to do it all.
In closing, have a good Thanksgiving, and a Merry Christmas, both you and your wife.
