NORTH MANCHESTER - Effie M. Welch, 95, North Manchester, died at 11:18 p.m. Feb. 27, 2008, died at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born April 11, 1912, in Huntington County, to William L. and Stella M. Shoemaker Chalmers. On Aug 15, 1953, she married Oliver K. Welch, who died Nov. 16, 1978.
She was a homemaker and a retired Huntington County Elementary School teacher. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren. She was a 1946 Manchester College graduate. She was a member of Extension Homemakers for 40 years and a member of Wabash County Retired Teachers Association. She attended Pleasent View Church of the Bretheren, Whitley County.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Welch Stuffle, Bloomington; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Chaplain Joan Deeter officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
