Edwin Otto Smith, 53, of Pierceton, passed away at 12:15 p.m. July 25, 2013, in his residence. He was born Sept. 17, 1959, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Edwin O. and Marie Pastore Smith. He worked at the Eppley Airfield and Chesterfield Bar, both in Omaha, Neb., and also worked at Bay Exterminators, New York City. He was a New York sports fan of the Jets, Mets, Rangers and the Knicks. Surviving are his mother, Marie Scognamillo, Pierceton; a son, Robert DeCola, Miami, Fla.; a brother, Thomas Smith, Pierceton; three nieces, Jessica, Camille and Haley Smith, all of Roanoke, Va.; and a nephew, Kyle Smith, Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Dominick M. Smith, who died Sept. 18, 2009; and a sister, Mary DeCola, who died Sept. 3, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, officiated by Father Phil DeVolder of the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
