NAPPANEE - Edward William Arch Jr., 100, formerly of Nappanee, died at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 19, 2008, in Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart, where he resided.
He was born June 16, 1908, in Nappanee, to Edward Sr. and Mabel Hornsby Arch. On Jan. 17, 1937, in Nappanee, he married Dorothy W. Price, who died Dec. 12, 2005.
He was a lifetime Nappanee area resident until moving to Hubbard Hills in 1996. He was a Nappanee High School graduate and worked for the U.S. Railway Mail Service. He attended First Brethren Church and was a member of American Postal Worker's Union.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (and spouse Paul) Van Meter Matia, Ashland, Ohio, and Mary Beth (and spouse Richard) Peach, Highland; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Hubbard Hill Estates with the Rev. Tom Schiefer officiating. A private gathering will follow a graveside service at Union Center Cemetery.
