PIERCETON – Edward Owens, 76, Claypool, passed away at 6:35 a.m. April 12, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. He was born July 29, 1935, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Amos and Rosie Howard Owens. On Dec. 7, 1957, he married Zula Faye Minnix, who survives. Moving to Silver Lake in 1950, he lived most of his life in Pierceton and moved to Claypool in 1997. He retired from Spartech Corp. in 2000 as a forklift driver after 33 years with the company. He was a member of Warsaw Family Worship Center. He enjoyed watching his grandkids playing sports; racing, especially Dale Earnhardt; old westerns, wrestling and other activities including going out to eat. He love to play ball with his Boston Terrier, Capone, who survives, Also surviving are a daughter, Hazel (and spouse Tony) McKenzie, Claypool; a son, Anthony (and spouse Kathy) Owens, Warsaw; four sisters: Norma (and spouse Bill) Meade, and Susie (and spouse Don) Murphy, both of South Whitley; Bonnie (and spouse Larry) Shepherd, and Centha McKenzie, both of North Manchester; three brothers: Earmen (and spouse Ivy) Owens, Gainesville, Ga.; Earl (and spouse Kathy) Owens, Tacoma, Wash.; Ellis (and spouse Dee) Owens, Alexandria; seven grandchildren: A.J., Austin, Michaela McKenzie, all of Claypool; Nikkole, Brandy Bryce and Amanda Owens all of Warsaw; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Colleen McKenzie. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, officiated by Pastor William Whitaker of Warsaw Family Worship Center.
