BOURBON — Edward J. Shearer, 78, Bourbon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka campus, with his loving family by his side.
Edward was born June 3, 1940, in Marshall County, to Harvey and Hilda Young Shearer. On June 23, 1968, Edward married the former Rosemary Klapp.
He was a graduate of Bourbon High School and a lifelong resident of Marshall County.
Edward retired from UPS in 1992 after 25 years of service and from Triton School Corp. after 13 years of service as a janitor.
Edward honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.
Those left to cherish Edward’s memory are his wife of 50 years, Rosemary, Bourbon; and his son, Stephen (Clara) Shearer, Columbia City. Also surviving are Edward’s granddaughter, Heather North, Shipshewana; his great-grandchild, Dante Schumucher, Shipshewana; and his sisters, Norma Swihart, Osceola, and Linda Metheny, Granite Falls, Wash.
Edward was preceded in passing by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Robert Cain; and his brother, Ralph Shearer.
A time of visiting with the Shearer family will be in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2018.
