LAPORTE – Edward “Ed” E. Snyder, 75, Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at 5:15 p.m. April 6, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born May 11, 1940, in Rices Landing, Pa., to Edward L. and Viola Katherine Davis Snyder. On June 26, 1965, in South Bend, he married Candace “Candy” L. Snyder, who survives. He worked at Warsaw Waste Treatment Plant as a plant supervisor for 20 years, and had also worked in truck driving. He loved life and the people he shared it with. He had a sense of humor and was a very outspoken person. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends, fishing and NASCAR racing, with Dale Ernhardt Sr. being his all-time favorite driver. He loved his whole family and all his grandchildren very deeply. Also surviving are his two sons, John Snyder Sr., Dolan Springs, Ariz., and Mark (and spouse Becky) Snyder, Pierceton; three grandchildren: Ryan Snyder, Catherine “Kat” (and spouse Paul) Miller and Elizabeth Patrick; and three great-grandchildren: Marissa, Kaitlyn and Lantz Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna Perkins; and grandson, John “J.R.” Snyder Jr. A family gathering in honor of Ed will be held at a later date.
