NORTH MANCHESTER - Edna M. McCoy, 89, of Columbia City, died at 3:05 p.m. March 4, 2010, at The Oaks, Columbia City.
She was born April 4, 1920, in Huntington, to John F. and Rosena A. Hartman Karst. On Sept. 16, 1939, in Columbia City, she married Ford McCoy, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Columbia City High School. A devoted housewife and mother, she worked for several years at Blue Bell as well as assisted her husband on the family dairy farm.
Surviving are two sons, Jack (and spouse Susan) McCoy and Dennis (and spouse Jan) McCoy, all of Columbia City; four daughters: Nora (and spouse Roger) Ferrell and Jerry (and spouse David) Wigent, all of Columbia City; Judith McCoy, Fort Wayne; and Kathy (and spouse Marlin) Carr, Warsaw; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Juanita McConnell, Columbia City, and Geraldine (and spouse Sam) Reiff, Pierceton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Creech; a grandson, Nick McCoy; six brothers, Julius S. "Toot," Raymond, Henry, Frank, Robert and Gerald "Bud" Karst; and two sisters, Katherine McCoy and Pauline Perry.
A graveside service will be immediately after calling Sunday at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery, Columbia City, with Eddie Beagles, CFC, officiating.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
