SYRACUSE – Edith Welty, 89, of Syracuse, passed way Dec. 15, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She was born May 10, 1922, in Berne, to Jonas and Addie Nichols Liechty. On Jan. 1, 1947, she married Everett Welty, who died in 1997.
She was a homemaker and retired from Sea Nymph Boat Co. after 21 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and had a love for animals. She was a founding member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.
Surviving are two sons, Keith Welty, Syracuse, and Kermit (and spouse Kathy) Welty, Lancaster, Ohio; two daughters, Bev Welty, Goshen, and Brenda (and spouse Lonnie) Bolinger, Syracuse; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Liechty, Grabil, and Gordon Liechty, Leo; and three sisters: Ruth King, Archibald, Ohio; Esther Beck, West Unity, Ohio; and Anna Mowen, Spencerville. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse, with Pastor Norm Reimer officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
