AKRON – Edith L. “Edie” Barker Harper Franklin, 85, Rochester, and formerly of Silver Lake and Akron, died at 11:20 p.m. Jan. 27, 2016, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Argos, Marshall County, to Irvin and Hazel Coutler Barker. On Aug. 29, 1948, in Rochester, she married Paul P.A. Harper, who preceded her in death in 1987. On Feb. 15, 1998, she married George Franklin, who preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2015.
She worked at Harvey’s Dime Store, Thermos Gas, Fashion Dress Store, Bounsall Shoes and managed the Senior Center in Silver Lake.
She was a 1948 graduate of Richland Center High School. She attended the Akron Church of God for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling to Branson and Pigeon Forge.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeannine M. Harper, Rochester; a son, Daniel Harper, Rochester; a stepdaughter, Joyce (and spouse David) Pike, Anderson; two stepsons, Harry (and spouse DyAnne) Franklin, Davidson, Mich, and Mike (and Susie) Franklin, Anderson; 11 stepgrandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Akron Church of God. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery, Rochester.
Calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, is entrusted with arrangements.
