Pierceton Elementary third-graders recently celebrated Earth Week by learning about landfills. Shelly Heckert from KC Recycling Depot presented a convocation called ‘The Edible Landfill. ‘She talked to the students about what a landfill is, what should and shouldn’t go in it, and what should be recycled. While she was talking she built an ‘edible landfill’ and asked students to help her with this. The children each got a scoop of the landfill to eat.
