Tuesday at Edgewood Middle School, there will be a variety of demonstrations, presentations and displays for the public.
From 6:30 to 8 p.m., the Warsaw school is hosting “Edgewood’s Best” throughout the entire building.
Most of the academic disciplines will be on hand.
According to music and choir teacher Dan Beam, the choirs will perform their contest pieces, and the jazz band will play.
The foreign languages will offer presentations and displays. The languages include Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese. Of course, the English department also will have items on hand.
Advance art students will have their pieces on display, but there also will be demonstrations.
For industrial technology, Beam said, the public can come see, investigate and learn more about the new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program being implemented this fall in the department.
Family and Consumer Science will offer a variety of family and consumer science displays. There also will be some cooking, with snacks for the public to enjoy.
“Follow the aroma of freshly baked cookies to discover Family and Consumer Sciences,” said Beam.
The science department will have a robotics display, while the math department will have displays of student mathematical progress.
A version of “Are You Smarter Than a Seventh-Grader?” will be hosted by the history department. It also will have an Egyptian hieroglyphics on display.
“It’s not a sit down and be entertained program,” said Beam. “They’re being encouraged to meander throughout the building. Walk about the building and get a feel for a little bit of all things at Edgewood.”
There is no cost to attend “Edgewood’s Best,” and the atmosphere will be casual, he said.
“It’s just to show off our best work for the year,” said Beam. “To draw attention to our strong suits.”
The cover of the program was designed by eighth-graders Haley Wickens and Taylor Graves.
The National Junior Honor Society will provide directions and assistance to those at the event.
