Economics

OK, since no one else is going to do it, I will. The Emperor has no clothes.

This idea that we can spend our way out of this economic mess is just plain foolish. The 3 million jobs that Obama keeps crowing about will be 80 percent current union members, not new jobs, just more work for the building trades. Yes, many roads, bridges and schools need revamping, so do two old trucks I own, but I don't have the money, and this country doesn't have the money for this. Try to remember the other 20 percent of those jobs are government jobs that won't go away, just more bureaucracy to support with tax money we don't have.

Putting 2.4 million union people to work will put some money into the economy for sure. After those people pay their back debts, they may actually spend some of it "discretionally," but my guess is that they will hang on to it to pay the bills when they aren't working anymore. Add to that the money spent on this endeavor will be gone and we will be faced with supporting that same infrastructure with our taxes just as we are now and it doesn't make sense.

If Obama wants to make things better he needs to put that trillion dollars into creating industries that create and manufacture value-added products, things that make money, not take money to support.

I keep hearing people say that, "we will come out of this, we did in the '70s." In the '70s, we pulled out of it by manufacturing, selling products, goods and services to other countries, value-added products, products made from raw materials. We don't do that anymore, we are the consumers. China will pull out of this nicely if we ever start spending money again, but flipping burgers, taking blood pressures, and picking up trash doesn't add value, those are what business calls "burden departments," portions of their business that cost to operate and make no profit.

A company can't survive without profits and this country can't survive by letting China make the profit on everything we use. We will not improve our economy on service industry, while on paper it looks like money is made, there is no value added, money created from effort. Get used to high prices and little income.

The globalists running our country have it all planned out for us and we are all buying into it because we, as a society have stopped thinking and caring about the whole. "I've got mine" is the mantra, nothing else matters. Your entertainment is still working, why worry? You can distract yourself from this any time you wish. Let's all come together and celebrate diversity. OK, sarcasm doesn't come across well in print. I hope you get the message.

By the way, there is a precedent for this. Japan tried this in the '90s and they are still trying to recover from it. Learn from others' mistakes.
