Chase the White Rabbit with the Warsaw Community High School Drama Department this weekend when it presents Lewis Carroll’s classic tale “Alice in Wonderland.” Written by Anne Coulter Martens, it will be “an evening of fun family entertainment with many memorable characters like the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Humpty Dumpty, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and many others,” according to information provided. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are reserved and are $5 for students and senior citizens and $8 for adults. They are available at the door or in advance at the WCHS Performing Arts Center box office or by calling 574-371-5040. Director Dana McAfee said the play is truer to the classic story by Lewis Carroll, not the Walt Disney version. It’s pretty short, about 80 minutes in length plus an intermission. “It’s a huge family friendly show with lots of color, great set pieces and costumes,” she said. The play is more of a comedy, McAfee said. “It’s more of a quirky, eccentric show. There are all different types of characters. It’s a comedy and fantasy.” There are 42 students in the cast, including second-grader Ellie Hepler, and three tech students. The cast of “Alice in Wonderland” includes Liz Brown as Cheshire Cat; Gabi Bradley, White Rabbit; Chloe Hoskins, Alice; Chase Madsen, Caterpillar; Lydia Harrison, frog footman; Sara Hohman, cook; Audrey Rich, Duchess; and Aaron Wainscott as Humpty Dumpty.
