Early Monday Morning Standoff Leads To Arrest Of One ManAn incident early Monday required the Warsaw Police Department to activate the emergency response team to apprehend a fugitive.
Warsaw Police Department Public Information Officer Det. Brad Kellar said at approximately 1:12 a.m. Monday, Warsaw patrol officers were called to the 700 block of East Center Street for a possible domestic disturbance based on screaming in the area.
Continued investigation led officers to 615 E. Market St., Kellar said, where police heard a man yelling at the rear of the residence then saw him go back into the house.
A short time later, Kellar said, another man came up to the officers and explained he had been staying in the home house sitting for a relative when he was kicked out by Auerlio Tamez, 47, of Warsaw, after an argument ensued.
Police learned Tamez had an active felony warrant and an active protection order against him from the owner of the residence who was not present at the time.
Kellar said Tamez refused to comply with law enforcement outside of the residence and a search warrant was then authorized by a judge.
Kellar said, based on the circumstances surrounding the case and prior history, WPD’s emergency response team was activated and sent to the scene, where they were able to apprehend Tamez without further incident or injuries.
After the execution of the warrant, Kellar said police then obtained a search warrant and drug and narcotic evidence was found in the home. The drug investigation is ongoing, Kellar said.
Tamez was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail for felony bond revocation and new charges for felony invasion of privacy and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.
WPD was assisted at the scene by Lutheran EMS as a stand-by for ERT operations.
