Earl "Wayne" Brown, 64, died at 8:15 p.m. March 25, 2010, in Mason Health & Rehab, Warsaw.
He was born Aug. 31, 1945, in Milan, to Elmer and Lucy Stopher Brown. On Aug. 16, 1996, in Rising Sun, he married Judith Reed Huffer, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-69, as a crew chief on a refueling plane over Vietnam. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Carswell Air Force Base, Texas.
He was a member of the American Post 185, Vevay, and the American Quarter Horse Association. He worked in supervision most of his life most recently as general manager of Bob Evans Farms Restaurant, Warsaw, which he called his dream job. He formerly owned a flower shop in Vevay. He loved playing golf and fishing. He loved people and talking. He will be missed by not only his family, but also by his many friends. He loved spring because it was time to plant flowers and fouling time. He loved and raised horses for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Pierceton Presbyterian Church.
Also surviving are two daughters, Casie (and spouse Bill) Hankins, Vevay, and Angela Reid, Fort Wayne; a son, Clint (and spouse Tina) Funnell, Scottsville, Ky.; four granddaughters: Rylee and Nora Hankins, Vevay; Whitney (and spouse Ryan) Harrington, Warsaw; and Chyanne Funnell, Scottsville; two grandsons, Dakota Funnell, South Whitley, and Spencer Lee Wayne Reid-Phillips, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Dortha (and spouse Henry Paul "PeeWee") Cury and Elizabeth (and spouse Libby) Markland, all of Rising Sun; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Brown, Benninfton, and Vonda (and spouse Sam) Lehman, Pierceton; a brother-in-law, Neal (and spouse Erna) Meloy, Warsaw; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James E. Brown; and a sister, Marjorie "Jean" Tyler.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Markland Funeral Home, Rising Sun. Burial will be in Rising Sun New Cemetery, with military honors.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Markland Funeral Home.
