Earl Burkett Frush, 74, of 204 Elm St., Pierceton, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Feb. 21, 2011, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Winona Lake, to Rulo Vivian and Roberta Elizabeth Hartman Frush. On June 1, 1958, in Pierceton, he married Sandra Irene Salman, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of master sergeant. He was stationed throughout the United States as well as in Asia and Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1978. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and many other awards. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 54 years. He worked for the State of Indiana, working for the Department of Transportation, retiring in 2004. He was a past member of the Pierceton Town Board, a past member of the Pierceton Lions Club and served in many other volunteer agencies. He was a compassionate man, dedicated first to his family, then country and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Frush, Pierceton; a son, Samuel (and spouse Katrina) Frush, Pierceton; a daughter, Roberta Frush, Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren: Tiffany, Bryan, Austin and Meghan; a great-grandson, Owen; two brothers, Donnie (and spouse Realis) Frush, Warsaw, and David (and spouse Betty) Frush, Winona Lake; two sisters, Carol (and spouse Wilbur) Slaymaker, Pennsylvania, and Margaret (and spouse Bob) Miller, Burket. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brandon.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Holly White officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
