NAPPANEE — Earl A. Brown, 87, Nappanee, passed away at 9:08 p.m.  Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family after a six-month illness. 

He was born June 23, 1930, in Riceville, Ky., to Ed and Myrtie Fraily Brown.

Mr. Brown was a graduate of Silver Lake High School. He served with the United States Marines in Korea. 

On Nov. 14, 1954, he married Zenal Grow in Decatur. 

Earl retired from Champion Motor Homes. He was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and Nappanee American Legion. He enjoyed his spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and woodworking.

Surviving are his wife, Zenal; children: Michael (Rhonda) Brown, David (Marsha Jones) Brown and Kim (Kendall) Young, all of Nappanee; grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Young, Dewart Lake; Kurt (Jennifer) Young, James (Lisa) Allen, and Matthew, Brandon and Corey Brown, all of Nappanee; and Christina (Jake) Burris, Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Metzger, Tampa, Fla. and a brother, Bob (Noretta) Brown, Warsaw.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4  p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel. Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m. Pastor Dave Engbrecht will officiate. 

Military services will take place after the service, and inurnment will be in Union Center Cemetery at a later date.
