AKRON – Spelling or pronouncing his name is certainly hard enough. Culver Academy’s Ignas Masiulionis made it even harder to guard him on the hardwood Tuesday night. In a high school boys basketball game at Tippecanoe Valley, Masiulionis poured in 30 points, including a 7-of-13 effort from three-point range, as he led the Eagles to a 50-48 win over the Vikings. The Eagles, now 1-2 on the season, led 16-9 after one quarter of play and 28-27 at halftime. Valley, which fell to 1-3 on the season, took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter, but was outscored 16-11 over the final eight minutes of play. Daylin Powell and Jamarrio Rule chipped in with seven and five points, respectively, for the Eagles. Masiulionis’ offensive outburst overshadowed the play of Valley’s Neil Clampitt, who scored a team-high 25 points. Trevor Neeley scored nine points in the loss, while Alec Craig and Jarod Duzenbery chipped in five points each. Gavin Bussard and Bryce Webster rounded out Valley’s scoring with two points each. The Vikings are in action again Saturday when they host Glenn, while Culver Academy hosts Portage Saturday.
