Posted
Dustin R. Miller, 31, died at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 4, 2012, in his residence, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born March 27, 1981, in Fort Wayne, to Kent and Patty Jones Miller. On june 2, 2002, in Silver Lake, he married Jenifer Augustine, who survives.
Living most of his life in Warsaw, he was recognized with honor chords as he graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1999. He played trumpet in the band and was a member of the National Honors Society. He was a U.S. Navy veteran where he was a nuclear machinist mate during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a furnace operator at Zimmer Inc. He was a member of Silver Lake Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; was an avid fan of the Colts and the Michigan Wolverines; was a fan of the New York Yankees and was able to visit the new and the old stadium. He had a special way with kids and loved spending time with his children. He was fun and funny and proud of and devoted to his family. He loved Jenifer very much and had a way of brightening her day. He was the one who made sure everyone pulled together and stayed together. He would call Nick at 1:45 in the afternoon (almost to the minute), just to check in. He was a great role model, disciplined, intelligent and was a great man of faith – especially for his age.
Also surviving are a daughter, Abigail Miller, at home; a son, Nathan Miller, at home; his parents; four brothers: Brian (and spouse Becky) Miller, Nick Miller, Alex (and spouse Jennifer) Calhoun and Joshua Miller, all of Warsaw; a sister, Andrea Calhoun, Warsaw; a paternal grandmother, Sherry Amudson, Huntington; a paternal grandfather, Ron Miller, Claypool; maternal grandparents, Larry and Eliza Jones, Syracuse; a brother-in-law, Adam (and spouse Elizabeth) Augustine, Warsaw; and his mother-in-law, Lou Augustine, Warsaw.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by the Rev. Barry Faucet, retired pastor with the Wesleyan Church.
Calling is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be by members of the  American Legion Post 258, Pierceton.
