INDIANAPOLIS - With her 13th-place distance of 38 feet, 7 1/2 inches in the shot put, NorthWood junior Carol Duncal led all local competitors at Saturday's girls track and field state finals at IUPUI's Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.
Warsaw senior Hillary Barlow turned in the next best performance, finishing 15th in the 3200 in a time of 11:29.72.
Also for Warsaw, the 1600 relay team of Rachel Rondeau, Amy Robertson, Jill Wehrly and Claire Beckett finished 21st with a time of 4:08.98. Kim Kurosky competed in the high jump but official results showed her as having no height.
Triton's Rachel Speicher also competed in the high jump, tying for 16th with a jump of 5-2.
Fort Wayne Northrop repeated as team state champions, tallying 55 points. Carmel took second with 46, followed by South Bend Adams (44), Indianapolis North Central (35) and Indianapolis Pike (30) in the top five.
