According to Kosciusko County Chief Deputy Treasurer Cindy Nolton, the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance approved dates for property owners to pay their taxes in two installment payments, Oct. 31 and Dec. 10.In July, the county planned to issue tax bills with one payment due Nov. 10. However, Nolton said, the DLGF did not approve that plan and instead approved the plan for the bills to be paid in two installments. Nolton said the format for the tax bills will be the same as in past years. New law requires that, included with the tax bills this year will be a comparison statement, and for those who have a mortgage company pay their taxes, the treasurer's office will include a copy of the bill for the property owner's information with "Do Not Pay" printed on it.
The county has not yet received tax rates for 2008, so a date has not yet been set for the issuance of the bills. Nolton said her office will issue a public announcement when the tax rates are received.
"We hope to have them in the next week," Nolton said, "but we really don't know."
When tax bills are issued, property owners can pay them in the following ways:
n By mail - Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a return receipt.
n At Kosciusko County area banks.
n Online, by credit card or debit card - www.kosciuskotax.net
n In person at the courthouse, 100 W. Center St., Warsaw.
n Through a drop box outside the treasurer's office.
