Listen to the drums at Warsaw Community Public Library for an afternoon of entertainment Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.
Jim Catalano is a Michiana area percussionist with a masters degree from The University of Notre Dame. Catalano performs as a drummer in “The Truth In Jazz Big Band” in Elkhart and has his own jazz quintet called, VibeNation.
Catalano also is the business manager for The Ludwig Drum Company in Elkhart. He has conducted clinics on percussion instruments and performance throughout the nation. In December 2012, Catalano presented a clinic at The Midwest Band Clinic in Chicago. The program presented at WCPL is called, “Drums Around the World.”
It is an interactive workshop on a wide variety of percussion instruments from a wide range of nations. Those in attendance will see a demonstration on how these instruments are played, as well as learn some history and culture surrounding the instruments. In addition, everyone will have a chance to make some music. Call WCPL at 574-267-6011 or visit www.warsawlibrary.org to reserve a seat.
