Driving Legally

Please help me! Please!

I have a very small Mitsubishi pickup truck that has been properly licensed ("auto tagged") and insured for over 4 years.Within the last four weeks we have been pulled over twice and told that this truck is not road legal.

In each case the officers could not explain why I was given an auto tag by the BMV. Nor has either officer been able to state or show the statute making these vehicles illegal.

After the first time being pulled over, I went to the Warsaw BMV branch and was told that this mini truck is legal and that until I receive a letter from the state telling me otherwise I may continue driving it legally.

Would you please explain who is in charge?

Why do state police make an issue of this and why the city and county police departments do not?

Why would the BMV issue auto tags to vehicles the state police say are not road legal?

The last officer, Luke, who I spoke with several hours after he pulled me over earlier in the day, was very polite, fair and firm, told me to consider this the "third" warning and that if he sees me driving this truck again, he would arrest me and have the vehicle impounded.

I am really confused here and need clarity ... oh, I know that is just a pipe dream when dealing with our fine BMV and state government, but maybe you can shed a ray of light on some "department heads" so that "they" either send the letter revoking the auto tag (with prorated reimbursement of tag fees) or send letters to all law enforcement branches that these vehicles are legally tagged.

I would greatly appreciate prompt help and clarity, prior to being arrested while driving my legally tagged vehicle to work.

Oh yeah, in each case I was going to "my job," which enables me to contribute to our state's income tax, so we can pay for these kind of inefficiencies and or deficiencies. Our state dollars hard at work!

I do love my country, state and our community ... we are all blessed to be able to stand up and try to make things right. That sometimes requires help from others ...t hat is community.
