Four people were injured Saturday evening in a two-vehicle accident in Washington Township, Warsaw, on North CR 450E.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department crash report, Jessica Bumgardner, 41, Pierceton, advised she was traveling north on North CR 450E. Approximately 200 feet north of East Old 30, her red 2016 Jeep Compass was approaching the crest of the hill. As the Jeep crested the hill, Bumgardner saw a gray 2009 Honda Civic traveling south left of the center line. She attempted to avoid the Honda Civic, but was unable to and the two vehicles collided at about 5:34 p.m. Saturday.
KCSD Sgt. Samuel B. Weaver noted in his report that, during the investigation, he did not observe any tire skid marks or yaw marks from Bumgardner’s Jeep. The report states it appears that the Jeep also may have been traveling left of the center line prior to the collision.
Kolt Kyler, 17, Pierceton, was driving the Honda Civic. He advised that he was traveling south on North CR 450E. Just prior to reaching the intersection of East Old 30, his Civic was approaching the hillcrest of the road. Kyler advised that as he crossed the road, he immediately saw the Jeep. Kyler was unable to avoid the collision.
Bumgardner suffered injuries to her right leg and right arm. She was transported to Lutheran Fort Wayne Hospital by ambulance for further medical evaluation.
Kyler suffered lacerations and injury to his right leg. He was transported by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Klay Kyler, 14, was seated in the backseat of the driver’s side of the Civic at the time of the accident. He suffered an injury to his right left and was taken by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Holden Bradford, 17, was seated in the front passenger seat of the Civic at the time of the accident. Bradford suffered injuries to his ribs and right arm and wrist. He was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
