Police are looking for the driver of a car that crashed into a field along Armstrong Road Sunday and fled the scene of the accident.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, Kosciusko County Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle rollover accident near the intersection of Armstrong Road and CR 200E, according to a report released by police.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Lou Mediano arrived to the scene and was met by medics and Plain Township firefighters who said the vehicle was unoccupied.

The white 2014 BMW appeared to have left the roadway to the left and rolled over before coming to rest on all four wheels, according to a KCSD report. The vehicle was registered to Leslie A. Clark, 106 EMS T 29 Lane, Leesburg.

A Winona Lake officer and KCSD reserve deputy arrived and assisted Mediano and firefighters in checking the area for the driver and any occupants of the car.

The reserve deputy then went to Clark’s residence to make contact with the registered owner, but was unsuccessful.

The BMW was towed from the scene.

At 2:47 a.m. Sunday, another KCSD deputy was dispatched to a gas station in Leesburg in regard to a suspicious male who a dispatcher suggested could possibly be involved in the case.

Further details were not released as part of the police report.

The accident is under investigation by the KCSD.
