ETNA GREEN -ÊA Mishawaka man is in serious condition at South Bend Memorial Hospital after a Monday afternoon accident near Etna Green.
Peter T. Muraya, 37, suffered head injuries when his silver 1997 Toyota left the road and hit a tree around 2:54 p.m. Monday.
The vehicle was southbound on Ind. 19 when it left the road for an unknown reason and hit a tree head on, trapping Muraya inside. Muraya had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The Samaritan Air Ambulance was called to the scene of the crash to fly Muraya to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for multiple fractures and head injuries. He was listed in serious condition following the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. Multi-Township EMS, the Etna Green Fire Department and Samaritan Air Ambulance assisted at the scene.
