NORTH MANCHESTER – A Fort Wayne man is in Wabash County Jail after police say he led them on a 11-mile pursuit.
Jeffery Moriarity, 38, was traveling around 9:28 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Norwood Drive and Ind. 13 when North Manchester police attempted a traffic stop, according to a news release from North Manchester Police Department.
Moriarity tossed items out of the vehicle during the chase, along Ind. 114. The chase stopped near Waldo Golf Course after Moriarity put the car in reverse and drove into a field.
Police say Moriarity then fled on a foot and police called in the K9 unit for assistance.
Moriarity was arrested a short time later. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw and then to jail.
He was booked on charges of reckless driving, habitual traffic offender, resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia. Police say charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated are pending based on the results of the blood test.
Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police assisted in the chase.
