Driver Hits Sign, Faces DUI Charge

SYRACUSE - A Syracuse man was arrested on drunk driving charges after hitting a church sign.

According to an accident report filed at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, a car driven by Robert B. Craig, 54, of 9736 E. CR 1350N, Syracuse, hit a concrete sign in front of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.

According to the report, Craig told police he lost control of his 2004 Chevy Malibu and hit the sign located at 10419 N. Turkey Creek Road, Syracuse.

Craig reportedly told police he consumed alcoholic beverages prior to the accident.

After field sobriety tests, Craig registered a .13 on a portable breath test.

The legal limit in Indiana is .08.

When tested again at the Kosciusko County Jail, Craig tested .12.

Craig was booked into KCJ on a charge of driving while intoxicated and held on a $550 bond.

The damage estimate of the crash was between $5,000 and $10,000.
