Driver Charged After Causing Motorcycle CrashWINONA LAKE – One man is in critical but stable condition at a Fort Wayne hospital, and another man is in the county jail after a car vs. motorcycle head-on collision Sunday night.

The accident occurred on Pierceton Road near CR 600E in Winona Lake.

Edward J. Frost, 51, Warsaw, was identified as the driver of the motorcycle that was traveling west on Pierceton Road around 7 p.m. Sunday. Frost was taken by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne by the Samaritan helicopter. Lutheran representatives said Frost was in critical but stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

Glen D. Chupp, 20, of 8400 N. CR 900W, Nappanee, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:34 p.m. Sunday for criminal recklessness, with a bond set at $5,250.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office, the preliminary investigation of the crash indicates Chupp was driving a Pontiac Firebird east on Pierceton Road and passed a vehicle in front of him, crossing the double yellow center lines. In the process of making the pass, Chupp's vehicle hit the westbound 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Frost, ejecting Frost from the motorcycle.

Chupp was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for a complaint of pain throughout his body, the news release states.

A witness at the scene, Christian Engel, 23, Pierceton, said he was traveling behind the motorcycle when the crash occurred and said of Chupp, "He probably wouldn't have stopped if he didn't have a flat tire."

Chupp's vehicle was several hundred yards away from the crash scene when responders arrived.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Fatal Team.
