Dr. N. George Macdonald, 70, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Nokomis, Fla.
Born on Aug. 2, 1955, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of Dawn and Douglas Macdonald, who preceded him in death.
A devoted physician, George graduated from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia where he also met the love of his life, Jane. His career in medicine was marked by unwavering dedication, gentle humor and a genuine passion for caring for others. His patients trusted him not only for his skill, but for his kindness, positivity and the way he made every person feel seen and valued.
George’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He loved Jane for 49 years with a bond that was truly special. He was very proud of all his children and their partners … Kaitlyn and Griffin, Holly and Faith, Jacob and Erin, and he was a beloved “Pop” to Madison, Macy, Alice and Charlie. Family moments were always a priority and the countless memories are priceless.
George loved music, history, jokes and trivia. He found great enjoyment in time outdoors with his family and loved the ocean, boats, biking and family walks … where he could always be recognized by the unique and joyful bounce in his step. He was always generous, unfailingly positive and kind in everything he did. He leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, joy and compassion. His family, friends and countless patients will forever remember his optimism, kindness and humor which enhanced the world around him.
