Kosciusko Literacy Services is hosting the Author Dinner at the Tippecanoe Country Club Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
"Gone with the Wind," one of the country's most beloved stories, will be the topic. Dr. Elliot Engel will deliver his knowledge on the book, the movie and the author Margaret Mitchell.
"'Gone With The Wind' is one of the most popular novels and motion pictures of all time, but you will be surprised when you learn the real story behind the novel and the glamorous Hollywood legends surrounding the film. Few know that the novel has little to do with the Civil War and the Deep South, but is really a glimpse into the real life and loves of Margaret Mitchell," said Engel.
Kosciusko Literacy Services focuses on all aspects of literacy and provides literacy programming for Kosciusko County residents from birth to senior citizens. The mission of the Kosciusko Literacy Services is to increase the literacy levels of all citizens of the community by implementing innovative and comprehensive programs using a collaborative effort from the community; increasing public awareness of literacy issues facing adults, children and families; and providing trained volunteer tutors for the adult students.
The dinner raises much needed funds to provide literacy services. Kosciusko Literacy Services is a United Way Agency.
